The latest Fan Column article has stagnated in the spotlight for some time now, and I have had absolutely no inspiration to write a new introspection. Therefore, I’d love for someone out there to step up and submit one of their own!

Valerie Rae Miller has been cast in the new pilot for the CW, Reaper. The show is about a 21 year old guy, Sam, who discovers that his parents have sold his soul to the devil. He now has to take the souls of people who escaped from hell, or else the devil will take his mother. The comedy will premiere this fall on the CW, but if you want to get a preview, got to http://cwtv.com/video In the first clip you get a short glimpse of Valerie as Josie (by short, i mean nanosecond. Don’t blink, because you will miss her if you do).

Jensen Ackles in A Few Good Men
Earlier this month, Jensen Ackles returned to his home state of Texas to  do a play at the Casa Manana Theater titled A Few Good Men. You might remember a little movie by the same title, which was based off the play, starring Jack Nicholson and Tom Cruise. Jensen takes on Tom Cruise’s role as Lt. j.g. Daniel Kaffee, while Jack Nicholson’s role was given to Lou Diamond Phillips. Ackles has received rave reviews for his performance in the drama. Jensen said that he tried to forget Tom Cruise’s performance, and make the part his own.

So — think you can fill Tom Cruise’s shoes?

My biggest trepidation is finding my own take on it. I’m so familiar with the movie that when I’m reading lines, I keep hearing the movie’s version in my head. Trying to shake that out of my head and bringing my own take to the role is going to be my biggest challenge. Not to mention memorizing all those lines.

This past Friday, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer was released in the US. In the film Jessica Alba reprises her role as Sue Storm, also known as the Invisible Woman. The sequel earned 58.1 million dollars this weekend, knocking Ocean’s Thirteen out of the number one spot at the box office, and also making more in its opening weekend than the first Fantastic Four movie.

Mona Buehler of CBS Watch! Magazine has sent us the following message:

We wanted to bring your attention to the subject of this month’s cover of CBS Watch! Magazine – Michael Weatherly. We brought the actor to Paris for a fun travel feature, and we’ve got amazing photos of him visiting all the sites throughout the issue. We also did a “Casino Royale” themed fashion shoot with Michael at the famed Hotel de Crillon and sat down with him for a telling one-on-one interview.

You can find Watch! at Barnes & Noble or Borders.

Alright, now apparently all of you Jericho fans are insanely loyal, and apparently it isn’t all for nothing! NBC has just ordered 7 more episodes of Jericho! I’m thinking that it might be because they didn’t want anymore nuts (apparently there was somewhere around 30,000 pounds sent to their offices!)
If you want to get more episodes of Jericho, the ratings need to improve. So tell your friends and get them to tell their friends to watch! The DVD comes out September 25th in the US, so buy it. Heck, buy one for everyone you know. DVD sales count for something. Also, the creators said they will be “continuing the story of Jericho in the digital world until the new episodes return.” (I honestly have no idea what that means, but fans might.)

Nina Tassler, president of NBC, had this to say:

“On behalf of everyone at CBS, thank you for expressing your support of Jericho in such an extraordinary manner. Your protest was creative, sustained and very thoughtful and respectful in tone. You made a difference.”

I’m sorry to say that CBS has officially cancelled Ashley Scott’s series ‘Jericho’. CBS president Nina Tassler wrote to all ‘Jericho’ fans on the official message board at the CBS website. She had this to say:

We have read your emails over the past few days and have been touched by the depth and passion with which you have expressed your disappointment. Please know that canceling a television series is a very difficult decision. Hundreds of people at the Network, the production company and the incredibly-talented creative team worked very hard to build and serve the community for this show — both on-air and online. It is a show we loved too.

Thank you for supporting Jericho with such passion. We truly appreciate the commitment you made to the series and we are humbled by your disappointment. In the coming weeks, we hope to develop a way to provide closure to the compelling drama that was the Jericho story.

Sincerely,
Nina Tassler, President of CBS Entertainment

This morning, the CW announced that Supernatural would be picked up for the third season! This means another year of Dean’s sarcastic remarks, one night stands, and questionable eating habits. I can finally go to sleep without worrying (assuming that the finale tonight doesn’t give me anything to worry about….).

Also, Supernatural will be keeping it’s 9/8c timeslot (unfortunately, it will still have to fight against Grey’s Anatomy and CSI for ratings next year too).

Michael Weatherly’s tv show NCIS has been picked up by CBS for next year! We’ll continue to see Weatherly play the oh so lovable Agent Tony DiNozzo for the fifth year. In the US it will stay in it’s current time slot on CBS at 8 pm on Tuesdays.

Welcome to NikkiHolly who is going to be our Jensen Ackles reporter! It’s fantastic to have her on board, and I look forward to her first article. :) As said previously, if anyone else would like to be on staff, please check out the ’staff’ page.

In completely off-topic and inconsequential news: I recently hired the Dark Angel PS2 game and although I clocked it a couple of years ago (with the help of a detailed level-by-level walkthrough I found online), I’m now floundering on… some level. The one after Max defeats the stingray guy and jumps onto the ship. Stupid timers. I keep fighting the urge to track down that walkthrough again. Incidently, I have a theory on why Manticore has been replaced by some other covert group, but I’ll go into that some other day. Goodnight!
