First up, I only noticed today (while showing TBW to a co-worker) that some of the sidebar links were incorrect. Whoops! These have now been fixed. Of course, this reminds me that I must put up the FAQ, actor profile and article pages. Heh heh… *looks shifty eyed and backs away*

Image Gallery: The main page of the gallery was offline for a long time due to a script error, this was fixed a wee while back but I’m just remembering to tell you this now.

Fiction Archive: I’m looking to put in a ‘random fic excerpt’ highlighting some of the stories hosted here on our fan fic archive, and would love it if people using the TBW archive would send in their favourite fan fic quotes! These can be emailed to fiction (at) thebrokenworld.org along with the title and author of the story. Please put “Fan Fiction Quotes” in the subjectline to ensure I don’t mistake your email for spam and delete it.

Our fan fiction archive has been given a revamp with a new Zack layout! Please have a look, and if you like it, I will make an altered version to use here at the main site.

Also, the story archive has been upgraded to Version 3.3 of the Efiction script. This means authors can now see how many times their stories have been read (since the upgrade), members can add their myspace/livejournal/deviantart/etc links to their profile pages, and the problem with spam in the challenges and review pages should no longer be an issue.

A couple of authors have recently been accepted into the archive and have posted some fantastic stories for you to read, and stories are regularly being added. Many being the works of veteran authors whose fan fics should always be readily available for those new to the fandom!

So anyway, please check out our upgraded fan fiction archive and see for yourself!

The really bad news is our fan fiction archive has been h acked. I’m currently working on fixing the archive, and hopefully my webhost will be able to help me out here, but I may need to restore an older database.

The little weasel has also attacked a couple of my other sites. Let’s just hope they don’t get in here!

Will post an update when I know more. If anyone has had this happen before and can offer any useful insights, it would be appreciated!

Valerie Rae Miller has been cast in the new pilot for the CW, Reaper. The show is about a 21 year old guy, Sam, who discovers that his parents have sold his soul to the devil. He now has to take the souls of people who escaped from hell, or else the devil will take his mother. In completely off-topic and inconsequential news: I recently hired the Dark Angel PS2 game and although I clocked it a couple of years ago (with the help of a detailed level-by-level walkthrough I found online), I’m now floundering on… some level. The one after Max defeats the stingray guy and jumps onto the ship. Stupid timers. I keep fighting the urge to track down that walkthrough again. Incidently, I have a theory on why Manticore has been replaced by some other covert group, but I’ll go into that some other day. Goodnight!

Fan Fiction Archive: I’m midway through the task of converting the fan fiction categories to subject/timeline/character rather than standalone/multi-chapter. This way if a person is for example, wanting to find a story centering on Manticore, there’s a category dedicated to ‘em.

Gallery problems: Something has gone wrong with the main page of the Gallery. I’m trying to figure out how to fix this…

Staff wanted! TBW needs manpower to make updates on Dark Angel cast. If you have the time to dig out valid cast news on a fairly regular basis, please contact me and include the actor/actress you’d like to be a news staffer for. This week I had every intention to pay my webhosting fees, but then I found myself facing a $460 vet bill which put the hosting bill on the back-burner until next week.  Unfortunately I suspect my account may be suspended until that bill is paid, so if you try to access the site within the next few days and find it’s not available, don’t worry!  With the bill getting paid this week (fingers crossed no further vet visits required) TBW will only be missing in action for a few days.

The original TBW, our forum was born on New Years four years ago when Enigma and I sat online chatting (while everyone else in the world was partying) and had a random 4am inspiration to create a Dark Angel messageboard that could be open to all fans, regardless of shipper preference and all that kind of blah blah woof woof.

Anyway, hope everyone has a safe New Years holiday!

On another note: I’ve finally revamped Terminal Collective the portal of all the Dark Angel related fanlistings TBW has to offer. Hey everyone, it’s 5pm on Christmas Day over here in New Zealand and while taking a moment to use the net and find out how to glaze a ham (better late than never), I thought I’d sneak over here and say “Merry Christmas!!!”

Oh and also, I finally wrapped up The Broken World Awards a few days ago, but have had no chance to announce it here until now. Not all winners have been contacted yet, so if you have won an award for your fan fiction/site/art and have not been contacted by me, feel free to kick my non-transgenic ass.

My webhost recently moved the domain to an upgraded server last week, and as a result a few unexpected problems appeared.  First up, all emails sent to The Broken World accounts prior to December 10 have all been wiped, so if you’ve sent an email in the last week and have had no reply, please resend it if you can as it’s likely I did not get a chance to recieve it.

There were also a few file permission errors at the Fan Fiction Archive which I hope I have now fixed. Basically, if anyone comes across errors when posting stories or reviews, sending in emails or TBW Award votes, or joining fanlistings, please let me know. Thanks!
